We are looking for outgoing, fun, passionate individuals that have time to give and that want to help keep families & their pets together. Please read the following volunteer description to see if volunteering with My Pit Bull is Family is the right opportunity for you!
About Our Volunteers
My Pit Bull is Family volunteers share our work in communities across the country. As a volunteer, you will be an important member of our team and act as a representative of our organization to the community at large. As such, we need people with great communication skills because our volunteers will be talking to people about our organization online, over the phone, and in-person.
Volunteer Opportunities:
North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center Shift Support Volunteers
Shift Support Volunteers at the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center help keep each shift running smoothly by sorting donations, stocking shelves, assisting with community member check-out, and ensuring an organized, welcoming environment. This hands-on role is vital to our mission of keeping pets with their families, and volunteers may also support community events, clinics, and fundraising efforts as needed.
We ask that our NMPRC Advocates cover at least one - 4 hour shift per month.
Shifts: Tuesday & Thursday 4:30 – 8:30 pm and/or Saturday 10:30 – 2:30 pm. Delivery Shifts: Saturday 12-3 pm
Community Pet Clinic Volunteers
Each month our Community Pet Clinic team hosts a wellness clinic for pets located at community space in North Minneapolis. There are two main roles on this team - Non Vet Team & Vet Team. We’re always looking for veterinary professionals to join our Vet Team - the larger the vet team, the more pets (and their people) we can support!
Currently Community Pet Clinics are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 8-3 pm.
Minneapolis Area Events Volunteer
Each year My Pit Bull is Family is invited to over 100 events and we even host a few of our own. Event Team Members are the face of the organization out in the community and share information about our lifesaving programs to keep families together. Event Team Members also play a role in planning and executing events that we put on!
We ask that our Event Team Members cover one event per month (depending the event schedule)
The majority of our events are on weeknights and weekends.
Rental Research Volunteer (National & Virtual!)
Our dedicated Rental Research Volunteers play a vital role in identifying dog-inclusive housing options across the country. They help us gather accurate, up-to-date information on pet policies, advocate for more inclusive rental practices, and ensure families with pets have access to safe and stable housing. Their work directly supports our mission to keep people and pets together.
This volunteer role is roughly a 1-2 hour commitment each month.
Access to the internet and a computer is required.
We’re always looking for dedicated volunteers – if you have an idea of how your skillset can benefit us – we want to hear from you!
