Community Animal Medicine Professionals
Empowering Communities, Supporting Pets
Developing professionals in veterinary care with a focus on outreach, education, and real-world experience. Learn how we’re empowering local community members to see themselves in animal medicine.
Launching October 13, 2024
The Community Animal Medicine Professionals Program is designed to provide hands-on, practical experience and education to aspiring veterinary assistants, with a focus on serving underserved communities. Through this program, participants gain essential skills in animal care, clinical procedures, and community outreach, all while learning from experienced veterinary professionals. The training includes coursework in animal anatomy, health and safety protocols, basic veterinary care, and client communication, as well as real-world experience through our North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center. Our goal is to empower individuals, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, to pursue meaningful careers in veterinary medicine, creating a more diverse and compassionate animal care workforce.
